Designed with spectators in mind, this stadium-style course provides clear, stunning views for fans to enjoy. Its challenging layout ensures that no two consecutive holes ever play in the same direction, adding an element of excitement and variety to the game. With traditional Scottish links-style bunkers, sandy waste areas, and water hazards on every hole, the Stadium Course presents a thrilling and interesting challenge for golfers. The course is also adorned with hundreds of oaks, pines, and palms, creating a picturesque and serene atmosphere.
One of the highlights of the Stadium Course is the infamous No. 17, known for its treacherous island green. Playing this hole can be both exhilarating and nerve-wracking, as golfers must navigate the water surrounding the green. While the weather in Ponte Vedra, Florida may have posed some challenges during our visit in September of 2021, it only added to the memorable experience. Playing No. 17 with the presence Georgia Tech Men's Golf cheering/yelling as we teed off and watching made the moment one I wish I could redo, but memorable to say the least. The caddies and members we played with shared fascinating stories and insights about the course, enriching our understanding and appreciation for its rich history.
Playing TPC Sawgrass was truly a once-in-a-lifetime trip that surpassed all expectations. The course lived up to its reputation and did not disappoint. It was not only a joy to play the game that brings me so much happiness but also a delight to witness the enjoyment it brought to my boyfriend, who had previously held a different opinion of golf. Creating cherished memories is what life is all about, and TPC Sawgrass provided the perfect setting for that.
Furthermore, TPC Sawgrass is not just any golf course—it is also home to the PGA and holds great significance in the world of professional golf. Though we didn't get to see the underground tunnel, we had the opportunity to view the trophy, sit in the iconic chair, and immerse ourselves in the course's rich history.
