Course of the Week: Kiva Dunes

In 2018, we had the privilege of experiencing Kiva Dunes as our very first official golf trip as Couple Birdies. It was February, and while the weather was a bit chilly at around 60 degrees, that didn't dampen our excitement to hit the course. As we embarked on this adventure, we were greeted by an abundance of wildlife, adding to the charm of the surroundings. 
 
From the moment we stepped onto the fairways, it was evident that the course was meticulously maintained. The fairways were pristine, offering a perfect canvas for our shots. The greens, on the other hand, were lightning-fast, presenting us with a delightful challenge in reading and executing our putts. 
 
Kiva Dunes Golf Course is a true gem and is consistently recognized as one of the finest golfing destinations in Alabama. Its reputation is well-deserved, as the layout itself is a masterpiece. Designed in a links style by Jim Edgemon, the property's developer, and his long-time friend, former U.S. Open Champion Jerry Pate, this course offers a captivating blend of strategic shotmaking opportunities. 
 
Nestled within a secluded piece of land, Kiva Dunes provides an unforgettable setting for golfers. It comes as no surprise that it has been consistently acknowledged and awarded by prominent golf publications such as Golf Digest, Golf Week, and Links Magazine. In fact, in 2017, Golf Advisor named it the number one public golf course in Alabama. 
  
Our experience at Kiva Dunes left an indelible mark on us as avid golfers our first as a Couplebirdies, and it remains one of the most memorable courses we have had the pleasure of playing. If you find yourself discussing the best golf courses in Alabama, Kiva Dunes undoubtedly deserves a spot on that list.
