Course of the Week: Legends Golf Resort in North and South Carolina An Arnold Palmer Golf Resort

We are thrilled to share our experience at the Legends Resort, nestled in the vibrant states of North and South Carolina. With its remarkable Moorland, Parkland, and Oyster Bay golf courses, this resort offers a golfer's paradise that simply cannot be missed. Join us as we delve into the captivating allure of each course and explore the many amenities that make Legends Resort a must-visit destination.

Moorland Golf Course: A Thrilling Challenge

Stepping onto the Moorland Golf Course at Legends Resort, we were instantly captivated by its rugged beauty. As the name suggests, this course brings a slice of the Scottish Highlands to the Carolinas. Designed by renowned architect P.B. Dye, it challenges golfers with its sprawling fairways, deep bunkers, and strategically placed natural hazards. Be prepared to test your skills as you navigate through narrow approaches and undulating greens while surrounded by picturesque landscapes. Moorland is a masterpiece that will excite and challenge golfers of all skill levels. This controversial course is a โ€œtargetโ€ golf course. Created in the Dye tradition, Moorland will cause golfers to rise to incredible heights on the sculpted terrain, sink to considerable depths in the bunkers, and constantly use every ounce of skill and luck in their possession. Moorland indeed earned its designation as one of the โ€œTop 10 New Courses of 1990,โ€ by Golf Digest. Play the 245-yard par-4 16th and see for yourself why the large bunker guarding the green is so appropriately named โ€œHellโ€™s Half Acre. We had played great at this course and did see a lot of turtles here, had a handful of chip ins and a few birdies as well. The weather was warm and humid but not as humid as Oyster Bay!

Parkland Golf Course: A Scenic Escape

The Parkland course offers a fulfilling round of golf while immersing players in the tranquility of the surrounding Carolinian countryside. More like MN golf with tree lined fairways and some water but not to much! Multiple island greens or fairways lined with water and bunkers throughout! Trees also lined the fairway, so we got to take in all that Carolina and wildlife has to offer.

Oyster Bay Golf Course: Coastal Brilliance

If you fancy playing amidst coastal breezes and breathtaking ocean views, the Oyster Bay Golf Course is an absolute dream come true. Located just a short distance from the Atlantic Ocean, this course boasts captivating marshes, sparkling tidal waterways, and an abundance of native wildlife. Designed by Dan Maples, Oyster Bay offers a unique golfing experience. Sweeping fairways, strategically placed bunkers, and challenging greens keep players on their toes while they soak in the mesmerizing coastal ambiance. From start to finish, each hole at Oyster Bay is a feast for the senses. When we were on our way to this course the cab driver who we hired told us that once he takes us there we will have a hard time getting back because cab/uber drivers are allowed to go into South Carolin on the roads but they are not allowed to go back to pick up people, and vice versa so we had the stress of not knowing that we would be able to get back to our hotel. The pro shop when making the tee time should have shared that if you are getting a ride to their course off site you can't get back. Or have a shuttle that takes you to and from. So it made the round a bit more stressful. We were warned that the day before, about the same time we were there, a Gator walked across the green with another in its mouth! We were excited to see the wildlife and play this marsh style course. The greens were rolling and tee boxes maintained well so it made this course not just visibly fun but challenging as well!

Beyond the Greens: Impeccable Amenities

The golf courses were well maintained, and we played a lot of island greens. We enjoyed the nature and wildlife on all the courses, especially Oyster Bay, that was our favorite of the 3 courses we played! From Gators, to turtles, to Birds, snakes, but our favorite was a new friend, a black fox squirrel that came and ate with us! We experienced all the Carolinas had to offer. The resort and amenities along with the restaurants were very accommodating!

As our time at Legends Resort came to an end, we couldn't help but reflect on the incredible golfing experiences we had on the Moorland, Parkland, and Oyster Bay courses. Each course offered a distinct challenge and showcased the remarkable beauty of the Carolinas. With its unmatched amenities and dedication to providing an exquisite golfing experience, Legends Resort is one we will go back too.
